Earthquakes, volcanic ash and other stuff.

I've adopted a new attitude lately and I think it's because of all that our little country is going through right now.  I wouldn't be lying when I said that I want to gather as many Cantabrians as I can and adopt them, just so that they can get a good night sleep and 'switch off' mentally for a while.  I can't imagine what they are going through.  The mental, physical and economic hardship I'm sure is unmeasurable.

So lately when I go to complain of something, whether it's online, facebook,  or to my family, I think twice.  It could be worse.  Having to pair thousands of socks from the rack that I used to dry the washing in front of the fire last night isn't really hardship, is it.  Because at least I have a warm home.  The new towels I bought that are shedding masses of dust everywhere?  That's nothing compared to what Cantabrians are dealing with, and that hot shower?  A luxury.

It's interesting how the earthquakes have changed some of us.  I still complain, of course I do, but I think twice.  And I'm going to touch wood as I say this because I don't want to tempt fate, but what else could be thrown at us?  Volcanic ash.  Who knew.  Ask me how nervous I am about the 2 packages being held up in Australia because of volcanic ash.  (not a complaint, just stating that I'm a little jittery about it here!) SENZ class kit stuff.  And I'm not writing instructions/finishing samples until I get those packages incase I need to change the class.  Which of course would make for a fun and interesting day before SENZ, right?

Anyway, I have the best of friends and one of my favourites is coming around tonight to kit some of the class kits.  The ones that I have everything for.  Here are some sneaks of that class.. can you guess which one.. I'm excited for Friday evening, kitting kits, having a little drink and chatting the night away.  The more we chat, the more the evening goes on, the more chance we have of coming up with a plan to adopt those thousands of Cantabrians, right?

I know just what you mean. Bought a new heater today at Bunnings. Had to attach its little wheels myself as husband away in England. Buggering things would not stay attached. Evidently the screwhole is faulty so I have to traipse all the way back over to the Mount tomorrow to get them to change it. But at least I have electricity and I can drive my car along roads which are not covered in liquifaction. So I am going to try not to be too grumpy tomorrow when I explain to those nice people in Bunnings. (Although I am blinking furious!)

I too hope those packages make their way across the Ditch in time. I cannot imagine how some of those Cantabrians are coping

Hope you get your parcels in time. NZ is just getting a bit crazy at the moment. Hopefully we are over the worst of the shakes and dust in Canterbury – but who knows these days… It was odd not to see the planes in their usual flight paths over N Cant over the last few days.

Thank you for thinking of us here in Christchurch its not a nice place to be at the moment (I am in the hard hit Eastern suburbs). I cant wait to escape to come up to SENZ as long as the ash stays away so we can still fly up on Friday, have booked two of your classes so really looking forward to it, I hope your parcels arrive soon from Aussie.

Thinking twice. That makes so much sense, Nic. I’m sorry for what your fellow NZers are going through. The natural disasters around the world these days are making me very sad for those affected, and yes, it really does make me reflect on how fortunate my family is.
I hope your packages arrive in time for your SENZ workshops!
And wow, I just saw that pic of Miss Abby in the post before this one. She is getting to be so BIG! And pretty, just like her mama. 🙂
(One last thing. I am giving away a spot in your colour class on my blog. Shameful plug here in the comments… maybe some of your readers want to drop by and comment for a chance to win a spot in that BPC class?!)
