I conclude,  that women nearing their 40s, or, well, you know… within 2 or 3 years of their 40s,  should not attempt to wear skinny jeans. 

After a 27year old visitor gave me crap a few weekends back for not staying with the times and owning a pair, I went and found some last week.  She left me with homework to get some, so I followed through like the girlie swot that I am.

 

Oh my GOD.  These feel like the compression stockings I had to wear when I was pregnant because of my varicose veins.  'Wear them for a day and they will give half a size' the shop assistant said… yea right! That one should be on a Tui's ad.

 

They make me look fat – (how to skinny jeans make one look fat?) and my ankles are cold… because one tends to have to wear a) jandels, b) flats with no socks or c) boots with them, and I'm not walking around the house with 2 inch boots on.

 

Not to mention how one gets one's jeans off in a HURRY.

Like if one's husband is getting all amorous.

Or if one sneezed a little hard and needs to run to the loo.  Cos one is nearing 40, remember?

 

Just sayin'.

    too funny !! well wait to you see the new in fashion shiny skinny jeans ICK!! i kinda like my skinny jeans however i wear a longer top so my bottom is not showing off to the world cause its not as tiny as it used to be SIGH!! and i like to wear fatty boots they look a bit cute
    wait till you wash your new skinny jeans you will have a tough time trying to get into them then 🙂

    Thank goodness, I had finished my cup of milk. (yeah, that’s OLD age for you – have to drink milk to stave off osteoporosis. lol) If I hadn’t finished it, I would have had to have had a windex moment (clean the screen). You never cease to make me laugh, Nic! LOL Have a great day!

    glad to hear i am not the only nearing 40 twit who foolishly succumbed to the same so called trend. even my 8yo laughed at me (and i reckon they would nearly fit him!) but i have to say that my ankles certainly didn’t get cold because there was a good 8 inches of excess length in the legs which i foolishly bunched into my boots! ugh!!!

    Skip the skinny jeans and go straight to jeggings..they are made out of stretchy soft denim and have no zips (basically they are just legggings) and because you are nearing forty just like me it means you can spread out a little on the sofa in an evening and be entirely comfortable in your jeggings as they have a ssshhh elasticated waistband. Worn with a long top who needs to know that underneath it all you have a comfy fit waist and your not even 50!!

    My son came home wearing some skinny jeans (don’t know where he got them) and I told him those were for girls. He got so mad, but turns out they do make them for boys!
